About CLAT

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) stands as a crucial national-level entrance examination, acting as the gateway to prestigious undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programs offered by 24 National Law Universities (NLUs) in India. Orchestrated by the Consortium of National Law Universities, this highly competitive exam is utilized by various affiliate universities and organizations for admissions and recruitments.
As of the Academic Year 2024-2025, all admissions to the 5-year integrated L.L.B. and L.L.M. programs will be exclusively conducted through CLAT 2024. It encompasses 24 NLUs for UG courses and 21 NLUs for PG courses, with an additional 61 private affiliated colleges considering CLAT scores.

CLAT Exam Eligibility Criteria

The qualifying exam is crucial for undergraduate program eligibility. It includes 10+2, International Baccalaureate, or equivalent exams recognized by the candidate's board. Each law school may have additional criteria, so candidates must check before applying for CLAT.

  1. Educational Qualification: The candidate should have passed their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates). Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in the same year are also eligible to apply for CLAT, but they must provide proof of passing the examination at the time of admission.
  2. Age Limit: There is no upper age limit for appearing in the CLAT exam.
  3. Nationality: Candidates must be Indian nationals or NRIs/NRI-sponsored candidates.
  4. Other Criteria Candidates with a history of criminal convictions, academic misconduct, or disciplinary action are not eligible for admission to any law school through CLAT.

However, the admission of such students will be subject to fulfilling the required eligibility criteria.

CLAT Exam Pattern

Candidates preparing for the CLAT exam must familiarize themselves with the exam pattern and syllabus. The CLAT exam pattern outlines the test structure, the number and types of questions, marking scheme, and other test modalities.
