The Judiciary Selection Process consists of 3 stages- Prelims Exam, Mains Exam, and Viva-Voce/ Personal Interview. However, the pattern for prelims, mains and interviews varies for each State. The final selection is based on the combined marks secured by you in Mains Exam and Viva-Voce. The Bihar Civil Judge Mains exam consists of five compulsory and three optional papers. The main examination consists of descriptive questions worth a total of 1050 marks. Candidates who pass the mains exam will be considered for the interview procedure. The personal interview will be graded out of 100 points. Candidate’s age must be between 22 to 35 Years who must have completed degree of Llb from a recognised University. Unlike other states there is no mandate for enrolment in bar council for being eligible for Bihar Judicial Service Examination.

Lower Judiciary Services –

He/she should be enrolled or qualified to be enrolled as an Advocate under the Advocates’ Act 1961.
Final year candidates can also give the exam and no experience is required for the exam.. The age limit is usually between 21 to 35 years. However, it varies according to the state. In some states the upper age limit is 40+ years.
Higher Judiciary Services – Candidates must be law graduates. In addition to that, the judiciary exam eligibility for higher judiciary also requires certain minimum number of years of litigating practice, usually seven years.
The examination consists of multiple-choice questions, written tests, and viva voce, assessing candidates' knowledge of constitutional and procedural laws. A comprehensive approach ensures a thorough evaluation of each candidate's legal acumen.
The Bihar Judiciary Prelims Exam is an objective examination comprising two papers: Paper 1: General Knowledge & Paper 2: Law. General knowledge is conducted for 100 marks, and law paper is conducted for 150 marks.
The Preliminary Examination includes questions from General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Elementary General Science, Constitutional and Administrative Law of India, Hindu Law & Muhammadan Law, Law of Evidence and Procedure, etc.
The main examination includes five compulsory papers: General Knowledge and Current Affairs, General Hindi, General English, Elementary General Science, and Law of Evidence and Procedure.Whereas you must choose three optional papers out of five law subjects.
